My Art Collaborations
The Little Birch Tree
In 2020, I was approached by Elizabeth Neiman, a Solo & Ensemble Singer in Germany; Chorgast/Zuzuger bei Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Area to begin a collection of compiled visual art to accompany traditional Yiddish music.
The first collaboration was inspired by the song Beryoskele (The little Birch Tree). My art is a collection of acrylic painted images and mixed media art shown in progressive stages. The images are highlighted to visually coincide with the lyrics. You will find a beautiful experience that mingles musical arrangements and art to translate into an appreciation for a universal language of music and art.
About This Melody:
The text to this Yiddish song was written by David Einhorn in 1912 in Vilna. The composer of the melody and where it originated is unknown but it quickly became a beloved folksong. Viktor Ulmann made a transcription of this and 2 other Yiddish songs (op 53) in the Ghetto Theresienstadt 1944, shortly before his murder in Auschwitz.

About This Melody:
Gabriel Faurés beautiful mélodie, is sung by Elizabeth Neiman with the Harpist Valerie Cribbs. Poem by Villiers de L'Isle-Adam.
The art images I provided to accompany this song are acrylic paint and mixed media to evoke the beauty of twilight slipping into starlight on a summer evening in a fragrant garden.
